Sega Nomad

The Sega Nomad was a handheld game console sold for the North American consumer market which played Sega Genesis game cartridges.

Sega released the Nomad in October 1995 for $180.00 USD marketed as a portable Genesis.

The Nomad features a 3.25 inch color LCD screen and an external detachable battery pack.

Here is a picture of my Sega Nomad. I recently replaced the screen with an official replacement:

Here is the Sega Nomad detachable battery pack. It uses 6 AA batteries and eats them pretty quickly:

Fortunately you can also use a Genesis AC adapter with it too, which I have the one that came with the Nomad:

Some other things to note about the Sega Genesis Nomad is it has an A/V out port on the top, which allows you to connect it to television.

One particularly interesting feature of the Nomad is its ability to allow one player to play using a connected TV, while another watched on the Nomad.

There is also a controller port on the bottom for a second player which basically means that the Nomad can be used as a fully functional home system as well as a completely portable hand-held solution.
